Happy New Year!
Oh I can’t tell you how excited I am for 2016! 2015 had a lot of ups but it had some tough times too, this year I foresee a lot less of the downs and a lot more ups! So I am just giddy to share with you the goals I’ve set for myself and also the goals we’ve set as a family!
First off I want to stress the importance of a goal vs. a resolution to me. You see I’ve NEVER completed a resolution I’ve made, but I have either accomplished every goal ahead of what I originally planned or right after. To me I guess goals are an obtainable thought out and planned out thing I can accomplish, a resolution is a “Well I will try to do it but no guarantee’s”. So we do goals not resolutions in our house and it’s worked amazingly well so far! 🙂
Now on to the sharing! We’ve broken down our goals into 7 major categories: Physical goals, Intellectual goals, Spiritual goals, Financial goals, Family goals, Social goals, and Career goals.
My biggest Physical Goal is to get back into shape. Having a desk job and going from growing up on 10 acres next to a whole tree farm as your playground and having all the chores that come with living on property and moving into an apartment when you get married takes your activity levels from high to low and over a few years some weight gain happened lol 🙂 But I’m tired of it so I have a lost 30 pound by June 1st goal! This should be relatively easy since we are going from no regular fitness routine to first a 3 day then a 4 day a week workout schedule. Watching what I eat will also help and I am a lover of the home baked goods I so enjoy making lol
My Intellectual Goals this year is two learn two new skills, one I plan on being sewing! And to try and read 1 Non-Fiction book every two months. I worked at a library for 6 years and was a huge reader, really up until I got engaged, then my passion was put on the back burner while we figured out this wonderful thing called Marriage! Well now I want to get back into it, so I’m going to set aside time to read again!
Our Spiritual Goals is to finish the marriage ministry course at my in-laws church starting up again this month after a break for the Holidays, and then to stick with a dedicated Sunday morning bible study we have bought. It’s a good book so far, pretty intense it takes us about 1.5 hours to do each chapter so far.
Family Goal wise, we are getting close to the “timeline” where we want to start our own family, so there are a few little odds and ends we want to start putting in place and looking into before a baby comes to be, one of them being a Baby Fund which brings me to my next goal category 🙂
We have 5 big Financial Goals for 2016, and you can read more about them and their specifics by clicking here! But we’re gearing up to save more for our house fund, a couple vacations, baby fund and beefing up the emergency fund a bit more.
Social Goals…. Now this is a hard one for both of us this year. We have some rough goings with some family and a few of our friends last year, and have come to see our oldest friends are truly our closest friends. This year we want to focus on the family and friends that have always been here, and always will be. My husband and I are both very loving and outgoing people so I’m sure we will meet and come to love a lot more people this year, big hearts it’s hard to stay mad even at people who have really wronged you! 🙂 So we want to be more socially active, but not meaning we want to go out and spend a ton of money while doing so! I’m a firm feeler that I get my quality time with friends and family at a home visiting instead of an outing.
Lastly, 2016 Career goals. Currently we both have full time jobs, and while I see the possibility of a few minor changes at these jobs, what we’re both so very excited about is the Photography Business we are in the middle of launching! My husband has truly great talent for being behind the lens and I love the whole part of organizing events and getting details from people for their wedding or other event, so while he does the physical labor I will manage the behind the scenes, dream team sounding to me if I don’t say so myself! 🙂
And there you have the gist of it! Our 2016 goals and I’m so stinkin’ excited to get started!
What are your 2016 goals? 🙂
